       What is the Academically/Intellectually Gifted Program? The Academically/Intellectually Gifted Program is designed to work together with the regular education program and numerous extracurricular programs to recognize and celebrate the students' special gifts for learning and achievement by providing students academic challenges, opportunities for academic growth, and occasions for excellent performance.

 

 

Enrichment Sessions - Identified students participate in enrichment sessions conducted by the AIG teacher to enhance their high school academic experience.

Governor's School - a free-six-week residential summer program offering studies in the areas of academics or performing arts.  Sophomores and juniors may qualify in performing arts.  Juniors only may qualify in the academic areas.  Governor's School is a highly competitive program with only 800 students selected from across North Carolina.

Summer Ventures - a two- to four- week residential summer program that focuses on science and mathematics.  The program is part of the North Carolina School of Science and Math and is funded by the state of North Carolina.

C-Cats - Clemson's Challenge for Academically Talented Students - an exciting weekend adventure that seeks to engage students in the academic, social, and recreational best Clemson has to offer.

Academic Advisement
- Identified students participate in individual advisement activities with the AIG teacher.     
 

 


Newsletters
- AIG students receive newsletters from the AIG consultant filled with reminders of important test dates, college preparation advisement, student achievements/accolades, and other valuable information. The first and last newsletters are printed and given to students.  Other information is updated on the Cape Fear High School web-site.
 

 
Advanced Curriculum Opportunities
- The AIG Program expects identified AIG students to participate in the College Pathway Curriculum, taking as many challenging courses as possible. These include:
  
- Honors Classes
- Advanced Placement Courses
- College Connections Courses
- Online Courses 
 


AIG students may participate in Schools of Choice Opportunities, including International Baccalaureate Classical Studies, Global Studies, and other various individual school Academies.
